History

The Waverley Wildcats Basketball Club was formed in the early 1980's with the club fielding six teams.

The club competed in the Waverley Basketball Association with games being played at the Jordanville Basketball Stadium.

Towards the end of the 1980's the club, recognizing the need for a larger training venue and more competition, registered half of the teams in the Knox Basketball Competition.

Two years hence the decision was made to align the club in its entirety with the Melbourne East Basketball Association, which has been our home ever since.

In the mid 1990's the club merged with 'The Achievers' which added a further five teams to the club.

In 1997 the club supported a trip to the United States of America in which some of our players and coaches competed in high school and college games.

In recent years the club has grown from a boys only club to one where now 1/2 of our teams are girls.

We have supported the MEBA's 'Pink Ball' competition which encourges young girls to try basketball and are delighted many have chosen to join our club.

The club is proud that some of the young players we have nurtured over the years have gone on to play in higher level competitions for the Nunawading Spectres, Melbourne Tigers and Waverley Falcons.
